Psycholoog Amsterdam noord | Vitaal Welzijn

About me

I'm Marjolein Koeman and I graduated as a psychologist at the Open University. The major in "life course psychology" is quite new and unknown. This master's deals with the development of people from adulthood onwards. The emphasis here is on positive psychology. During my studies, I developed personally. I have worked for two years as a volunteer for 113 suicide prevention. After that I have worked with people with gambling problems. I am trained in Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and in the 'classical' Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am also trained in various interviewing techniques and positive coaching. In addition to my work at Vitaal-Welzijn, I work as a psychologist in addiction treatment for three days a week.

About Vitaal-Welzijn

At the beginning of 2020 I started Vitaal Welzijn together with Niels Brouwer. We are very convinced of the effectiveness of therapy combined with massage. I like the fact that I can use my knowledge and experience to help others. My attitude towards clients is open, non-judgmental and respectful. I often succeed in quickly getting to the core of a problem. I like to keep developing, so that my professional knowledge remains up to date. I will therefore continue to expand my range of treatments.

My own experiences

After high school, I tried different courses to figure out what I wanted. I studied social work for one year and tI went to laboratory school for two years. After that I started medical school, but I did not finish this study and went to work. From high school onwards I suffered a lot from insecurity and anxiety. To deal with this I took refuge in alcohol and drugs. Eventually I reached my "rock bottom", where I decided that I wanted to make something of my life. That was the moment to go back to school and study psychology. I am grateful that I have my life on track now and that I have the opportunity to help other people.
